Keith Haring had always dreamed of having a balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Nearly 20 years after his death, his dream came true thanks to the Keith Haring Foundation. The “Figure with Heart” balloon debuted in 2008 on what would have been his 50th birthday. The balloonatics of Macy's Parade Studio re-conceived one of Haring's ink-on-paper drawings, Untitled (Figure with Heart), 1987, as a 48-foot tall helium giant.

The balloon was a three-dimensional rendering of Haring's drawing that appeared flat against the backdrop of the sky just as it might have appeared on the subway walls once favoured by the artist. Helping guide the balloon along the route were Haring’s many family and friends. After its only Parade appearance, the balloon occasionally appeared at the AIDS Walk in Central Park in honor of its creator. Read On...

Leo Scales His Way Into the Lineup!: Leo, the star of Netflix's new animated feature, took to the skies of New York City in November as a giant balloon. Requiring more than 50 gallons of paint, the large lizard was all scales on his inaugural fall crawl. Read more.

A World of Pure Imagination!: Warner Bros. Pictures whipped up a scrumdiddlyumptious float with "The Deliciously Delectable World of Wonka," promoting the fantastical Wonka film! Tens of thousands of prop candy lead up to a towering cherry tree—the float's centerpiece. A whimsical performance set to "Pure Imagination" enchanted viewers. Read more.
