The New York Daily News, officially titled Daily News, is an American newspaper based in New York City. As of May 2016, it was the ninth-most widely circulated daily newspaper in the United States. It was founded in 1919, and was the first U.S. daily printed in tabloid format. Since 2017, it has been owned by the news publishing company Tronc.

History with the Macy's Parade

The New York Daily News made their parade debut all the way back in 1977

, with float called the "Big Apple". It featured many NYC skyscrapers and landmarks, with a giant apple sitting in the center, representing the "Big Apple". It also had a bridge designed as a staircase to make room for people standing on the float. After 24 years of this float appearing in the parade, it finally retired in 2003.

However, a new Big Apple float debuted in the 2004 Macy's Parade. It features a more modern look, and an almost similar design as the previous float, but in this version, it features the Lincoln Tunnel, and of course, Macy's flagship department store. This float was retired after 2017
