Santa's Sleigh is a float that traditionally appears at the end of every Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The float depicts Santa Claus riding on his trademark sleigh. The only time Santa's Sleigh hasn't appeared at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was in 1933, in which he led the parade.
Santa's Sleigh debuted when the parade began back in 1924. In his first version, Santa's Sleigh was immensely smaller and more minimalistic than his current design. However, this version of the float retired in 1964 only to introduce a new version in the next parade in 1965. In this run Santa's Sleigh was much more intricate and had a larger focus on the reindeer than in previous versions. This version was retired in 1977, a mere twelve years after the last new edition and a new similar version debuted in 1978. In 1987 this version was retired and a much larger version of Santa's Sleigh featuring a goose was debuted in 1988. Again, this float was retired in 2008, twenty years after the last redebut. Finally, in 2009 the latest version of Santa's Sleigh debuted which was very large depicted Santa and his reindeer flying over houses and has been used since.
